Meet The Team At Linkslade

Chris Grassick

Chris Grassick is a rising star in British flat racing, known for his international experience, modern training approach, and partnership with veteran trainer William Muir at Linkslade Stables in Lambourn. Chris officially joined the training license in January 2021, forming the joint operation William Muir & Chris Grassick Racing.
This collaboration blends William Muir’s decades of hands-on horsemanship with Chris’s global perspective and analytical mindset. Together, they’ve produced consistent winners and maintained a high standard of horse welfare and performance. Chris comes from a racing family—his father, Martin Grassick, owns
Carisbrook Stud Farm—and he’s been immersed in the thoroughbred industry his entire life.
He holds a degree in International Equine and Agricultural Business Management from the Royal Agricultural University, and his early career included roles across all facets of the equine world, from foaling and breaking to training and sales.
Before joining William Muir, Chris spent three years as assistant trainer to Archie Watson, one of Britain’s most successful young trainers.
He also gained valuable experience working in Australia, Japan, Ireland, and Saudi Arabia, giving him a broad understanding of global racing practices and horse management.
At Linkslade Stables, Chris plays a key role in implementing modern training techniques, data-driven decision-making, and individualized care plans for each horse. He’s particularly focused on optimizing performance through attention to detail—whether it’s stable design, turnout routines, or rider selection.
The partnership’s standout success has been Pyledriver, a Group One winner who captured the Coronation Cup at Epsom and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes at Ascot. These victories helped cement Chris’s reputation as a capable and forward-thinking trainer.
Beyond the racetrack, Chris is known for his approachable style and commitment to owner communication. He’s active in racing clubs and syndicates, including the Coral Racing Club, where he and William share insights and updates with members. Chris Grassick represents the next generation of British trainers—ambitious, globally informed, and deeply committed to the sport.
His work at Linkslade continues to shape the future of flat racing, combining tradition with innovation in one of the UK’s most iconic training yards.
