A Happy Horse  Will give you his Best

At Linkslade Stables, William Muir has built a training environment where the wellbeing of every horse comes first.
Central to that philosophy are the beautifully maintained paddocks that surround the yard—an essential feature of daily life at this long‑established Lambourn base, these turnout areas are carefully managed to provide safe, spacious, and peaceful surroundings where horses can relax, graze, and simply be horses, for both William & Chris, turnout is not an optional extra; it is a vital part of producing sound, confident, and mentally balanced racehorses.
The paddocks at Linkslade Stables allow each horse to unwind away from the intensity of the gallops and the routine of training. Time outside encourages natural movement, which helps maintain joint mobility, muscle suppleness, and healthy circulation.
Grazing supports digestive health, while the freedom to stretch and roll reduces stiffness and tension. Just as importantly, turnout plays a major role in mental wellbeing. Horses that spend time in the paddocks are calmer, happier, and more settled in their work, which ultimately contributes to improved performance on the racecourse.
William Muir has always believed that a relaxed horse is a trainable horse, and the paddocks at Linkslade reflect that long‑held approach by giving horses the chance to enjoy fresh air, daylight, and
natural behaviour, the team ensures each individual horse thrives both physically and mentally.
This commitment to thoughtful, horse‑centred care is one of the reasons Linkslade Stables continues to produce tough, genuine, and successful racehorses year after year.
